Back checks – against an uncontrolled opening of swing doors
If the door opens too fast, the back check slows down the door and prevents it from opening without control. This way, it protects the goods and the people standing in the vicinity of the door.
Back checks are a reliable solution for doors (or windows) that open suddenly due to wind or careless operation.

Application areas of back checks
Entrance doors
In the case of doors that open to the outside, wind or drafts can blow them off your hand and hit the facade of the building or a bystander. Back checks prevent damage such as torn hinges or broken door closers, as well as injuries.
See application example
Schools and day care centers
Doors in schools and day care centers are often exposed to the rush of children wanting to leave the building. Back checks prevent uncontrolled opening and thus damage to the door and also help to prevent injuries to students and teachers.
See application example
Stores and commercial buildings
Stores often have large glass entrance doors. These heavy doors can quickly become a hazard for passers-by if there is too much wind and the door is blown open.
See application example
Industrial buildings
Exterior doors in industrial buildings are also often problematic. If the wind blows them open suddenly, this poses a great safety risk. The back checks ensure safety by slowing down the door as soon as the speed of the door leaf becomes too high.

Public buildings
Highly frequented doors in public buildings (educational institutions, town halls, fairs, public toilets, etc.) often open too wide due to careless use. In this case, back dampers are the perfect alternative to floor stops, as they don’t pose a tripping hazard.

Windows
Especially in buildings where windows are frequently operated, wind, drafts and careless opening can quickly lead to damage, resulting in high repair costs. The back check is also the ideal solution in this case – and it can also be easily installed in tilt-and-turn windows.
